In a very heartwarming ToYW initiative Sai Pathmanathan, of The Taste Buds card publishing company, used the event to connect three classes of children in Tower Hamlets primary schools with a nearby club for older local people.
Introducing the activity, Sai set the scene talking about empathy and communication, after which children (aged 7-9) took part in workshops creating cards and writing messages for the senior citizens, using lots of colouring pencils, stickers, glitter (lots of glitter!) 
and sequins.
“This was such a lovely event to do,” said Sai, “the children all really enjoyed it and said they felt very happy when they received a card in the post, and also when they sent cards to others.”
The cards have now been delivered to the club and the elderly members were so happy and appreciative of the thought and care put into the cards that they are now making their own cards to send as thank yous to the school children.
