As TOYW draws to a close, there have been some really positive inclusions and engagement in the press and across social media; click here for a taste of all the coverage!
Sarah Ebner, the head of the Daily Telegraph’s Good Newsletter, ran an original story about TOYW on 17thSeptember, with a request for her readers to tell her their greetings cards stories. She followed that up at the start of this week with “a huge thank you” to her readers who’d sent her their thoughts on cards. She quoted one reader Olivia who said receiving something hand-written was still a real pleasure and gives you a “visual snapshot” of the sender in a way that an email or text can’t do. Sarah finishes by saying “I think cards and letters can be seen as acts of kindness, cheering someone up, or letting them know that you are thinking of them.”
The GCA CEO Amanda Fergusson appeared on local radio talking about the initiative and the importance of sending cards – you can hear her interview here.
The campaign saw a series of family bloggers running give aways of bundles of cards across social media, especially Facebook. These included Yorkshire Wonders and Tantrums to Smiles – and both got a range of lovely comments including huge appreciation for the skilful designers we have in our industry!
Jess at Tantrums to Smiles asked her audience who would they send a card to:
“I would send one to my Nan she’s just had surgery and she always gets so excited when she gets any cards!” Katy
“I’d love to send a card to my sister who has moved home and now has a much better lifestyle for herself and her adult disabled daughter – a life-changing move I’d love to send a home-warming message.”
Nikki at Yorkshire Wonders ran her own photography of the cards and got some lovely responses:
“Always nice to receive a physical card in the post!” Anthony
“These would be great to have handy and they look awesome. Love the Tequila button card!” Rowena
“Wow they are wonderful” Hayley
