It all started in a car on the way to the Cardgains Charity Walk…
Thanks to the brilliant Jakki Brown—GCA Council member and owner of Progressive Greetings —a spark of an idea from Aga Marsden of Highworth Emporium has grown into one of the most inspiring Thinking of You Week initiatives we’ve seen yet! With Jakki’s industry connections and support, Aga’s plan has quickly gained momentum, turning into a full-blown community celebration.
Thinking of You Week officially runs from 15th–21st September, but Aga’s plans begin on 1st September, coinciding with Volunteer Week in Highworth—meaning the town will be buzzing with activity and local media interest.
During Volunteer Week, local businesses are encouraged to contribute in creative ways. While some might bake cakes or host events, Aga saw an opportunity to do something uniquely meaningful with greeting cards—bringing people together through messages of kindness and connection.

Aga has teamed up with two local schools, where pupils will write cards filled with uplifting messages. These will be delivered to:
Highworth Emporium will also host a “Write a Card, Deliver a Smile” station in-store, inviting customers to join in and write their own messages of kindness. A writing desk has already been set up in the shop, and here’s hoping the initiative will be embraced by the local community.

To make sure every card reaches someone who needs a smile, a local scout group and the shop team have volunteered to hand-deliver them.
To bring this beautiful idea to life, Aga needed 1,000 cards with uplifting designs or caring messages. Thanks to the generosity of GCA publishers, she got them! Huge thanks to:
Special mention to Brett Smith from Emotional Rescue, a bespoke Hugs from Highworth card has been designed in collaboration with Aga.
